Dua Lipa Dua Lipa, an English singer-songwriter was born in London, on the 22nd of August 1995. The model signed with Warner Bros Records after a several years of hard work. She dropped her self-titled debut album in 2017. The album reached number three in the U.K. Albums Chart and produced eight singles, including Be The One I.D.G.A.F as well as the U.K. Number One single New Rules which peaked at 6th within the United States. Lipa won an award at the Brit Awards in 2018 for British Female Solo Artist as well as British Breakthrough Act. Her album was certified platinum across several countries around the world. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. As a result of her maternal grandparents Dua Lipa, she is Bosnian. Her ancestry can be traced back to Peja, a city in Kosovo. The two grandparents of Lipa were both historians. Her siblings include Rina and Gjin. Lipa learned to play the guitar and sing with her dad Oda. He is the singer/guitarist who leads the Kosovan-rock band Oda. She was influenced by her father's music that included his music compositions and songs by artists like David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics Stereophonics. Lipa began singing around the age of five. When she was nine, she started learning to sing. Lipa has performed a cover of Don't Have You as well as Beautiful from Christina Aguilera and posted it on YouTube. Lipa was given a recording contract by Warner Bros. Records in 2014. New Love, Lipa's debut single, was released in August 2015.
